Caramel Candy

Ingredients

  • 8 oz. unsalted butter
  • 0.75 tsp kosher salt
  • 14 oz. sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 2 cups packed brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cups ice water to test caramel as it cooks

Instructions

  1. lightly grease a 9“ x 13” glass baking dish with canola
  2. melt butter in pot over medium-low
  3. when melted add the brown sugar and corn syrup and stir to combine
  4. add sweetened condensed milk stir to combine
  5. raise heat to medium and bring to a boil for 10 to 12 minutes
  6. heat to a temp of 234 f
  7. remove from heat, add vanilla and stir to combine
  8. pour into glass dish
  9. let cool and cover when room temp
